QLD Department of Natural Mines and Resources has issued a safety warning to mining companies, following concerns that some mine workers may be operating under false qualifications.

The move comes after Rockhampton police charged the director of North Australia Career and Training Services with fraud and forgery offences.

606 deaths were attributed to Mesothelioma in Australia in 2011, reflecting a trend of increasing levels of diagnosis from 1997 to 2011, according the Safe Work Australia's latest report on the incidence of Mesothelioma in Australia.


Infinity Cable Co. Pty Ltd have issued a product recall for Infinity TPS 2.5mm twin and earth flat cable model FT3025 with batch numbers: INFMEL081112, INFH210912 and Infinity branded Olsent cable INFH190311.

The recall does not include any other cable ranges under the INFINITY or Olsent brands.


CFMEU WA has issued this alert regarding imported plant with cabling wrapped in blankets containing Chrysotile Asbestos in fabric. The plant has since been isolated and the material is being removed by competent persons.


Following issue of previous alert on this issue, CFMEU WA received the manufacturer's alert on these double couplers, with details which may assist in the identification of potentially flawed couplers.

WorkCover NSW is reminding people that they can contact Workcover to check the licence of anyone intending to carry out a WorkCover-licensed activity after a number of fake licences from government agencies were detected across the country.

WorkCover NSW is urging those who work from heights to be vigilant following three serious incidents in Sydney on Monday 3 June.

At around 8.30am,  a 23-year-old worker fell four metres through the floor of an electricity substation under construction in Potts Hill.

In a second incident, a 25 year-old-man fell more than three metres through a skylight on a demolition site at Rushcutters Bay.

And at around 1:15pm in the afternoon a man fell three metres from a ladder on a site at South Coogee.
